Belmaachi Cigars Featured in Whiskey Network Pairing with Stonestreet Bourbon

Belmaachi Cigars was recently featured by the Whiskey Network in their popular Sips n’ Stogies series, highlighting a premium pairing between the Belmaachi Sumatra Toro and Stonestreet Bourbon Founder’s Edition.

The article was written by cigar and whiskey contributor Joe Gulino following a live discussion and pairing session on The Great Cigar & Pipe Show podcast.

In the review, Gulino explores the character of the Sumatra Toro, a 6×52 cigar blended by Belmaachi founder Sam Falaki and produced at Tabacalera Flor de San Luis in Estelí, Nicaragua using tobaccos from Somoto, Jalapa, and Condega, wrapped in Ecuadorian Sumatra.

The pairing highlighted the cigar’s rich flavor profile, with tasting notes including:

• fudge brownie and roasted nut notes
• creamy chocolate and cinnamon spice
• woody and leathery undertones
• sweet fruit and caramel interplay with the bourbon

According to Gulino, the pairing produced what he described as an “unusually awesome” experience, with the cigar amplifying the bourbon’s peach, caramel, and vanilla notes while the whiskey enhanced the cigar’s chocolate and fruit characteristics.

The feature also shared the story behind the brand, including how Sam Falaki’s journey into cigars began through his friendship with former MLB player Marvin Benard, which led him to Estelí and ultimately to creating Belmaachi Cigars in honor of his uncle Taibi Belmaachi.

We’re honored to see Belmaachi recognized by the Whiskey Network and featured alongside exciting new whiskey releases and cigar pairings.
